Retailing is a high-tech, global, growth industry that play s a vital economic role in society. The authors' objective in preparing the eighth edition is to stimulate student interest in retailing courses and care ers by capturing the exciting, challenging, and rewarding opportunities facing both retailers and firms that sell their products and services to retailers, such as IBM and Proctor & Gamble. The textbook focuses on the strategic issues facing the retail industry and provides a current, info rmative, 'good read' for students. The eighth edition maintains the basic philosophy of previous editions while focusing on key strategic issues with an emphasis on financial considerations and implementation through merchandise and store management. These strategic and tactical issues are examined for a broad spectrum of retailers, both large and small, domestic and international, selling merchandise and services.

迈克尔·利维博士是百林商学院C.C.雷诺兹公司资助的 营销 学教授。从俄亥俄州立大学获得工商 管理 博士学位后，他先执教于南卫期理大学，然后担任迈阿密大学营销学系的系主任和教授。他已经从事了22年的 零售 管理教学 工作 。
